We've all heard the bank commercials that tell us how important it is
to
invest for the future.
But with tuition fees, student loans, maybe
even a line of credit, it can be hard to manage paying off your debt
while still saving a bit of money.
The Canadian Federation of
Students keeps track of student debt in Canada. They say it's at
thirteen and a half billion dollars.
Unfortunately, personal finance
is not taught in school, and so most of us have no idea of even where to
began getting out of debt.
Business reporter Alexandra Abdelwahab
did a Skype interview with student finance expert Murray Baker.
He
wrote The Debt-free Graduate.
She reached him in Vancouver and asked
him about debt management and about starting to invest.
